Re: MIE/IGNOU Diploma Examinations July 2009

Dear Madam,

The GTU has received numerous complaints from teachers of the Diploma MIE/IGNOU Cohort 2008-09 concerning the exams held on 30 July in Mathematics. Same teachers apprehend that they be penalized for the following reasons:

1. The paper consisted of 4 questions where 600 words was requested for each question, meaning that they had to write 2400 words in 2hr, which is quite a difficult task, considering the fact that they need to have sufficient time to reflect, think, write and revise. Most of the teachers claim that they did not have enough time and they had to work under undue stress.
Comparing the Mathematics paper with the other subjects, it can be averred that the Mathematics paper is far more demanding in terms of number of words asked for.
2. Question 3 consisted of 6 parts where teachers had to answer any three. Teachers who have been in charge of lower primary classes all through their career were at a complete loss because none of the topics in question 3 is taught in lower primary classes. They argue that those working in upper classes were favoured.
3. Asian Language teachers argue that their case is far more disastrous. They claim that if GP teachers are so complaining then AL teachers have suffered more prejudice.

The GTU is hence seeking your intervention so that teacher be penalized and that the benchmark for passes, especially for Mathematics, be reviewed.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,

Jugduth Seegum
President

  8. D. Ghost says:

Hats off to MR Seegum for his intervention in favour of teachers of Cottage G.S. This shows that the GTU is here for teachers and whenever one of our colleagues or there is a problem, they give us massive support. The proposal to have a security guard made by Mr Seegum is indeed the best one. It is also sad to note that other fake unions are simply not interested with what happened to teachers. A real shame. Just see Week-End 13 sept , a fake union is talking about ‘regionalisation’ etc but not a word, even of sympathy, for the teachers who have been victims at Cottage G.S. It is also sad to note that some are still blindly following them. Its high time friends, nu bizin prend nu destin dans nu la main. Seul contre tous, la GTU Vaincra !!! On ne peut l’arrêter !!!

  9. Bhojpuri Boys says:
